Num Kom is a traditional rice cake made from simple ingredients such as glutinous rice flour with palm sugar, grated coconut and toasted sesame seeds. This soft-textured treat is perfect for breakfast or a quick snack during the day.
Ingredients

A cup of glutinous rice flour

Warm water

Five cups of freshly grated coconut

Four teaspoons black sesame seeds

Half a cup of palm sugar

Pinch of salt

Banana leaves
Preparation

Toast the sesame seeds over a low heat, then turn off the heat and add the grated coconut and palm sugar.

Mix the ingredients

Mix the salt, warm water and glutinous rice flour until a dough forms

Form the dough into balls

Place the filling in the balls of dough

Place the cakes in the centre of the cut banana leaf and shape it into a pyramid.

Steam the cakes for 15 minutes
